"My wife and I had been working with a close friend as our real estate agent and found a property we were really interested in on Zillow. Our realtor was out of town but we figured we’d… have the listing agent show us the property. Upon clicking the link to schedule an appointment to see the property we were somehow directed to Angie. I assumed it was the properties listing agent. We set up a time to see the home the next day. Angie seemed off and disinterested the entire time we were at the house.. My pregnant wife tried to shake her had and she acted like she didn’t notice…. After touring the home which she later called us and asked if we wanted to make an offer. I told her we were more than likely going to do so and I’d have my agent reach out to her. At that point she told us she was our agent. She then explained to me she pays to receive leads via Zillow. I felt really bad and apologized for the mistake. I told her I wish she would have called and explained that prior to the showing. She did mention in our email dialogue prior to seeing the property that she wasn’t a zillow employee and she’d be writing the contract if we wanted to buy. My wife and I nor being in real estate again didn’t comprehend that meant she wasn’t the listing agent. She said this had been happening a lot with Zillow lisitings. I then said well it probably wouldn’t of you picked up the phone and called potential buyers to explain vs just scheduling a showing and then forcing yourself onto buyer as their agent. We ultimately ended up going under contract with the home and purchasing. Angie filed a grievance or complaint demanding half the commission on the purchase for an hour of her showing time. Looking back she knew exactly what she was doing, I was very clear I had an agent. My agent offered several settlements that most people would be thrilled with for an hours worth of time but Angie didn’t accept. She took the entire situation to arbitration causing headache, stress, and frustration on our end. She ultimately succeeded in getting money she didn’t deserve on the purchase of our dream home. She cast a dark cloud on our entire process. Thank you Angie."
